Farewell and Reception goes on in ICT Division

Senior officials of the ICT Division are retiring one after another. On February 1, Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, the Additional Secretary who was promoted to grade-1, and was the Managing Director of the Hi-Tech Park Authority, officially departed. His farewell reception was held at the conference room of the department at the ICT Tower on Wednesday. Senior Secretary of ICT Division NM Zeaul Alam wished him a happy retirement life with flowers besides remembering his eventful working life.

Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam was given farewell reception on Thursday. His extended tenure also be ended on February 4 at the end of the two-year extension period. Accordingly, the ICT Division honored him on the last day of this week.

In the meantime, Md. Samsul Arefin, Secretary of Coordination and Reforms Department of the Cabinet Division, has replaced outgoing NM Zeaul Alam as the new Secretary of ICT Division. After passing the 11th BCS examination, this talented son of Madaripur entered the civil service by joining Manikganj as an assistant commissioner. This successful government official started his career in BCS 1984 batch after graduating in Botany from Chittagong University. He was awarded 'Innovation Award' by the Government of Bangladesh.

On Wednesday, the current board of directors bade him a farewell reception to the founding chairman of Startup Bangladesh, NM Zeaul Alam. Last morning, after attending the laptop gifting ceremony of freelancers, he held the last board meeting in Gulshan's office. Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh showered him with flowers after the meeting led by ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

According to sources, Tarek M Barkatullah, another senior officer of the ICT department, is retiring on January 6. This BUETian is retiring after serving as the Director of Digital Security Agency and Data Center since the establishment of Bangladesh Computer Council.

Earlier, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Training and Development Director Mohammad Enamul Kabir, another BUETian of Rajshahi, went on retirement leave on December 29 last year.

The BCC Executive Director Ranjit Kumar presided over the occasion of the farewell program of Enamul Kabir. EDGE Project Director and Joint Secretary Dr. Muhammad Mehdi Hasan, BCC Policy Strategy and Planning Director Md. Abu Saeed and BCC Secretary Mohammad Rashedul Islam spoke at the event.
